Students from Elmwood College’s Student Development Department are hard at work preparing for the annual MacMillan ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ which takes place on Friday 25th September.
Ten students from the Life Choices B class, supported by Lecturer Pat Steele were keen to participate in the event and raise money for a very worthy cause and to be part of the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.
Student Katrina Sharman said, “ My class chose McMillan because it is a great cause and it is great to be a part of such a big event. We hope to raise at least £100.”
MacMillan relies on public support to generate 99% of its income; in 2008 they raised £126,127,000, which is spent helping the 2 million people in the UK who are living with cancer.
Section Manager Tracey Wight said, “Our students have organised the event and are working hard to produce range of cakes to tempt students and staff and have also produced soup from vegetables they have grown in their allotment.”
