Pupils completing their bridgelink year at the New School, Butterstone in Perth have participated in a taster session event at Elmwood College recently.
This event is designed to ensure transition goes smoothly for students who are about to attend Elmwood courses and for new school pupils commencing the Student Development Units at the college.
The New School has been established to educate young people of secondary school age who are likely to benefit from specialist provision in their education. This is done through emotional support so they can develop sound relationships with their peers and others.
Tracey Wight, Head of Elmwood’s Student Development Unit, said “We have been working in partnership with New School Butterstone for a number of years now, providing a one day transition programme for pupils. It gives them a chance to try out a variety of subjects including, allotment, sports, enterprise activity and the world of work. The success of this programme is due to not only the collaborative work with the school staff but the excellent learning and teaching experience the pupils get here at Elmwood College.”
