An Elmwood College part-time flexible care class have passed their course with flying colours and all received their certificates recently.
The SVQ Level 3 Childcare Learning & Development, a Flexible Learning course is designed for people working in a childcare setting who wish to register with the Scottish Social Services Council as a practitioner. Study is undertaken in the students own time, and they are assessed in their workplace with the College offering tutorial support.
The students complete written examinations and practical demonstrations throughout the year. They were also assessed on their problem solving and team working skills.
As a result of completing the course students, Althea Davie and Gilliam Thompson, have both been promoted to the posts of Playgroup Leaders at Wormit Playgroup.
Gillian said, “The course and the tutors were fantastic and I have gained so many new skills. I would definitely considering returning to Elmwood to study in the future and will be recommending the course to others in the childcare industry.”
Tutor, Margaret Chisholm said, “The students were a joy to work with and have studied extremely hard to meet the standard necessary to complete the course. I would like to congratulate them on their achievement.”
Elmwood offers a range of SVQ Care courses including, Level 2/3/4 Health & Social Care and Level 2/3 Children’s Care Learning & Development.
The Flexible Learning Unit is staffed by a Learning Facilities Administrator who is on hand to assist students. For more details, please contact Fiona on Tel. (01334) 658931 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
