Elmwood College Hair and Beauty students were celebrating winning awards at this year’s Aberdeen College, Hair and Beauty Festival 2011.
The festival held at the Aberdeen Beach Ballroom saw more than 400 students compete for the top prize. Other colleges participating, included, Telford, Dundee, Inverness, Angus, Adam Smith and Aberdeen Colleges. The students competed in categories including, cover girl make-up, manicures, ladies commercial cut and blow dry as well as treatments based around themes of fantasy and high-fashion.
NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing student, Danielle Cargill, won 1st place in Ladies Evening Style category. NVQ Level 3 Beauty Therapy student, Nattelle Duguid, came 3rd in Nail Art and Level 2 Beauty Therapy student, Louise Keddie, achieved 2nd in the Nail Art category.
Beauty Therapy lecturer, Karen Anderson, said, “The event offered our students the chance to compete against other colleges and see how their skills measured up to the competition. Our students did a great job and we look forward to competing again next year.”
