Two Elmwood College students are continuing their studies in the USA as they have successfully won golf scholarships in America.
Christopher Low and Katie Reid both currently studying HND Professional Golf, will take up scholarships in August. Chris from North Berwick, is a keen golfer and spent three years at the Scottish Golf Union, a golf coaching academy in Scotland. He will be heading to McLennan College in Texas.
Dundee born Katie is continuing her studies at the University of Little Rock Arkansas and hopes to turn professional after completing the course. She has golfed at county, club and national level for a number of years.
During their time at Elmwood, both Chris and Katie have competed in national events all over the UK. Chris has twice represented the College at the Intercollegiate Golf Tour, which took place in London and St. Andrews. They both expressed a keen interest in furthering their golf and studies in America and with the help of Elmwood staff member, Fraser Hutchison and www.collegiategolfusa.com this became a reality.
Katie commented about her time at Elmwood, “The lecturers have been very encouraging and given me lots of support. I have enjoyed my time at Elmwood and made some good friends and I am excited about my new adventure in America!”
Chris said, “My game has improved dramatically during my two years at Elmwood and I have learned a lot about coaching. I am looking forward to putting this into practice and competing collegiately in the States.”
Fraser Hutchison, Elmwood College sport lecturer commented, “This is a fantastic opportunity for both Katie and Chris and they have proved to be excellent, hardworking students. I wish them all the best for their future careers.”
