German students from Nordhorn and Münster are enjoying student life at Elmwood College. The purpose of the trip is to enhance their confidence and employability skills with the project running from March until May.
52 students between the ages of 14 – 20, from schools and colleges across Germany, are currently embracing all things Scottish! There is also a small group of 12 unemployed adults from the German Job Centre, who have been selected to do local work placements.
The students have joined existing Elmwood classes where they are studying Greenkeeping, Child Care, Hospitality and Sports Coaching, as well as English classes to improve their language skills.
They have enjoyed cultural trips to Dundee, St. Andrews, Stirling and the highlight so far has been the visit to the Edinburgh Dungeons and Castle.
Tracey Ford-McNicol, Programme Manager, Support for Learning commented, “It has been a pleasure to be part of the students Scottish learning experience. We hope that they will return to Germany, having had a positive experience and that they go on to have a successful future.”
