Elmwood College held Money Week recently, where students found out useful information on how to manage their money.
One exhibitor who participated in the event was Natalie Anderson, who studied a short course in web design at Elmwood in 2010. She was promoting the benefits of business start-up as a career option for students.
Natalie always had a dream of opening up her own boutique and in 2011, she opened Elisabeth May Shoe Boutique in St Andrews. She had previously worked in retail management for a number of years and decided it was time to move on. So after extensive market research in St Andrews to determine what styles and brands of shoes people would be interested in buying. With the help and advice of Business Gateway she opened her own shop and has never looked back.
Elisabeth commented, “Business is better than expected and we have recently extended our offerings to include clothing and accessories into the boutique. We now have three staff and things are going really well for us. This is my ideal job and I just wanted to let the students know that if you work hard enough you can achieve your goal.”
