Land-based industries across Fife are being invited to have their say on the proposed merger of Scotland’s four leading colleges for the sector at a consultation event in Cupar.
The event, which is open to all members of the public, will be held at Elmwood College on 17th April from 1pm to 2pm.
Barony College, Elmwood College, Oatridge College and the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) launched their public consultation on 26th March and have come together to look at how the increasing demands of the land-based sector could be met by a new institute of further and higher education which combines their strengths and expertise.
Staff and students across the colleges, local communities, industry partners and other stakeholders from across Fife are being encouraged to voice their opinion on the proposals.
The consultation runs from the 26th March to the 7th May (inclusive).Over the coming weeks, open events will be held at each of the colleges’ campuses inviting questions and providing more information on the proposals.
Andy Robb, chair of the Going Further Partnership Board said, “We are encouraging all members of the public and businesses with an interest in the land-based sector to come and meet senior representatives from the colleges and to hear more about the consultation process.
“We recognise the value of the land-based sector to Fife’s economy and the value that businesses in the area bring to the Scottish economy. Our public consultation session at Elmwood College, will give those working in or with an interest in the sector to come and give their views about the proposals.
“As part of this consultation, we are committed to ensuring as many views are heard as possible to help shape the new institution. The Fife public consultation is the third of seven events across Scotland and interested parties can make their views known via post, web or social media.”
