Primary six and seven pupils for Falkland Primary School recently spent two days at Elmwood College, as part of the Health and Wellbeing element of Curriculum for Excellence.
They worked with the Sports Coaching team and the Hospitality team; they covered topics including exercise, health and safety, healthy eating and team building.
Primary Seven class teacher Mrs Watson said, “The event has been a great success, having access to Elmwood’s facilities adds a different dimension to the pupils learning experience, we are delighted to have an excellent relationship with Elmwood.”
The pupils visit to Elmwood culminated in a lunch for parents, teachers, friends and family. The pupils planned and prepared a menu, which included poached salmon, pasta, salad, soup and homemade bread.
Hospitality lecturer, Vicki Munro said, “The pupils have been fantastic, full of enthusiasm and very creative.”
The meal produced by the pupils received rave reviews from everyone who was lucky enough to be invited, with a real buzz evident in the kitchen and the training restaurant.
The pupils gave the event a huge thumbs up, Harley Gardiner commented, “I really enjoyed setting the cutlery out, making bread rolls and scones, serving at the tables, I have never done anything like this before!”
