Students from Elmwood College are to undertake a work placement at Falkland Palace over the current academic year, where they will help to maintain the grounds.
The seven NC Landbased course students will work with Head Gardener, Sonia Ferras-Mana on the upkeep of the Palace gardens, including grass maintenance, planting, flowerbed design and other seasonal tasks.
Elmwood are constantly looking to establishing links with local organisations and it is hoped that this placement will lead to future collaborations with the Palace.
Tutor, Stewart Burt said, “The Student Development department has been working on the development of activities to improve the overall learning experience for our students. We ensure the students get as wide a selection of activities as possible as well as inviting them to participate in work placements. This work experience is just one of many planned for students this year.”
Gary Moore, Cross College Transitions Advisor, said, “I am excited to be organising these work placement opportunities, so that the students will be able to put the skills they have developed at College into a real work environment.”
