Elmwood College representatives recently took part in a ceremony to celebrate ten years of collaborative work with the China Agricultural University. Carol Borthwick Director of International Golf and Student Services took part in the University’s graduation ceremony, where she made a speech and presented gifts from the R&A and Elmwood College.
During the ten-day trip to China, the College representatives attended a meeting with long-term partner Shenzhen Tourism College. The group then travelled to Beijing where they took part in the CAU Graduation Ceremony.
The graduation was attended by many alumni of the CAU Professional Development Award program and over 100 influential representatives from China golf industry as well as Philip Morgan, First Secretary of Scotland in the British Embassy Beijing.
In her address at the ceremony Carol commented, “We at Elmwood value the close relationship developed with CAU over the years and look forward to continued partnership working in the future. I am confident that those students graduating today will play a significant role in the development of golf in China.”
After the graduation ceremony, Carol Borthwick and Mr. Wang Tao, Vice President of CAU signed an agreement to extend the 10-year partnership agreement between Elmwood College and China Agricultural University.
The University delivers a PDA in Golf Course Management supported by Elmwood. On this occasion 21 students from across China graduated, with many of them progressing into employment with the buoyant Chinese golf industry.
Carol went on to attend the Foundation ceremony of China Golf Course Designer, Constructor Manager Association followed by a group photo session. There was a product launch and a publicity opportunity for sponsors. They participated in a forum on golf course design, construction and management in China.
