Chinese New Year

Staff and students at Elmwood College celebrated the Chinese New Year recently.

Students from the College’s Supported Learning department got everyone into the spirit of the Year of the Rabbit by staging a Chinese dragon parade around the campus.  The College’s Garden Gallery Cafe then invited the College’s international students, from China to a special celebratory Chinese menu lunch, where they had the opportunity to sample some Scottish cuisine.

The Supported Learning students spent days preparing for the event, designing and making decorations, all whilst researching Chinese history and culture. The event reflected the diversity of the College student population.

Elmwood lecturer, Jean Duncan, said, “The students had fun getting involved in the celebrations and the dragon created a lot of interest in College.  As part of our citizen project, we are always keen to engage in events, which celebrate different cultures.”
