As part of Elmwood College’s extensive programme of summer works, the Hospitality department’s training kitchen has been completely refurbished to the very highest standard.
In recent years there has been an increase in recruitment of students wishing to study hospitality, with successful students finding employment in the tourism sector within North East Fife and beyond. The College felt that an investment in new technology in this area was well justified.
Hospitality lecturing staff have been heavily involved in all stages of the design and planning of the new kitchen. A sum in excess of £78,000 was invested in new equipment including a rational oven, pasta boilers, solid tops, canopy, in fact everything from a new ceiling to floor surface.
Lecturer William Balfour said, “Delivering City and Guilds Level 1 and 2 Diploma qualifications, demands that teaching facilities are of the highest standard and I can honestly say our facilities would be the envy of many professional kitchens.”
The College offers a range of hospitality courses including City and Guilds Level 2 Food Prep and Cooking, City and Guilds Level 1 and 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery and HNC Professional Cookery, as well as a range of popular evening classes. There are still some places available on our full-time and evening class courses, get in touch with our admissions team on tel. 01334 658856 to find out more.
If you would like to taste our students’ creations book a table at the College’s Themes training restaurant which is Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri 12.15 pm -1.15 pm September to May.
