Elmwood Hairdressing Student In National Competition

Elmwood College hairdressing student Craig Boyd recently won first prize in the Association of Hair and Therapists Regional Competition held in Airdrie.

Craig and his model Sarah Field now progress to the national finals held in the Blackpool Winter Gardens on 16 March, where he will compete against students from across the UK.

The competition will require Craig to compete against hundreds of other stylists, recreating the ladies cut and blow dry style which gained him a place in the final.

Craig is a Level 3 Hairdressing student at Elmwood and is also employed by Kool Kutz Salon in Leven.  His employer Catherine Taggerty is delighted by Craig’s success saying, “Craig is doing really well in the salon and is extremely popular with the clients and we wish him well in the finals.”

Lecturer Audrey Storrier who is the College’s competition co-ordinater said, “It is good to see hard work and commitment rewarded, Craig is now looking forward to taking on the best stylists in the UK.”

"

It’s a good course; I really enjoy colouring and cutting. I have made some good friends and am looking forward to coming back next year.
