Elmwood College have announced a strategic partnership with Bavarian, Austrian and Italian delegates that has the potential to widen access opportunities for people within the Autistic Spectrum.
Following on from a series of recent meetings, the partners plan to continue with student exchange visits and will work towards a joint development of qualifications to support the continuing professional development of staff working in this area.
Bavarian Autism specialists, Markus Witzmann, Christine Schulz and Dorothea Heiser are enthusiastic about the prospects and have taken the step of completing a joint application for funding to the UK adult education group, Grundtvig .
Inclusion Manager, Alison Boyle, said, "We're very pleased to be working with three different countries in the EU to build on our special relationship that was formed with the partners back in 2002. This funding application is key to fulfilling our ongoing commitment to our students and will enable us to develop courses, staff exchanges, raise awareness and understanding, break down cultural preconceptions and embrace diversity for people with ASD.”
The partners will now continue to meet to discuss the creation of a professional working group.
