One of the impacts of the economic downturn has been a reduction in demand of part time training, especially leisure and hobby classes. People are being careful with whatever income they have and tough choices need to be made.
Sadly, this means that although Elmwood College has a very large and increasing demand for full-time vocational courses, we have had to respond to a reduction in the part-time leisure activities.
From Monday 8th March 2010, Elmwood will only be open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings but not Monday and Friday when we close at 18.00. The College will also be closed on Saturday mornings.
Ken Rutherford Director of External Relations commented, “All Colleges have experienced a drop in the uptake of part-time and leisure classes. We have taken the decision to close the College on Monday evening and Saturday morning, but plan to maximise learning opportunities on the evenings we are open. I would encourage members of the public to explore the option of ILA funding to allow them to continue to access learning to prepare for the economic upturn.”
ILA Funding is available to many people who want to study part time and you can find out more by contacting the College and speaking with our advisors. Telephone 01334 658856 or contact ILA direct on 0808 100 1090 or log on to their website www.ilascotland.org.uk
Many of the Elmwood’s programmes are available offered through flexible learning and it is also possible to infill into many of our full-time programmes.
Our programme of spring evening classes is available either on-line or Tel. 01334 658856 for a brochure.
