Elmwood College’s Director of External Relations, Ken Rutherford has been appointed to serve on the Standards Council for Community Learning Developments in Scotland.
The committee is to work to improve training and skills for those active in community learning and development practice. This will contribute to raising standards and quality across the wide range of practitioner activity in Scotland.
Ken has been selected to serve on the Council Registration Sub-committee.
The group will be involved in a ground-breaking initiative which will contribute to raising quality across communities and the CLD’s main aim is to help individuals and communities tackle real issues in their lives through community action and community-based learning
Elmwood College delivers community learning across North East Fife in eleven local learning centres, including St Andrews, Tayport, Auchtermuchty and Anstruther. Ken, as Director of External Relations at Elmwood, has responsibility for the College’s community activities and has an excellent knowledge of the sector.
Ken commented of his appointment saying, “It is important to be involved in driving forward initiatives to develop the future of community learning which is vital to enhancing the quality of life in rural communities.”
