International Team

Carol Borthwick - Director of International, Golf and Student Services

As a Senior Manager, Carol has various areas under her leadership. A key one is directing all the international activity the College is engaged in.

The international work can be divided into two main areas; international student recruitment and international business development.

Golf Education one of SRUC Elmwood Campus's niche market and, already attracting world-wide recognition, is a key area for international development work as well as a very popular choice for overseas students. To support this work the college owns and manages a golf course facility 2 miles from the main campus. The facilities include an 18 hole golf course, driving range, short game practice area and a clubhouse with a full restaurant and bar service. All students studying at the SRUC Elmwood Campus are encouraged to use this facility as part of their studies as well as an opportunity to relax and enjoy the facility over evening and weekends

Elmwood is only 9 miles from St Andrews, the world famous ‘home of golf’. Elmwood is positioning itself as being the ‘home of golf education’. Courses in Golf cover all 3 main areas of the golf industry; Golf Course Management, Golf Facility Management and Professional Golf and Coaching. All programmes lead to degree and master degree provision.

One of the most notable international projects for Elmwood has been in China over the past 10 years. As a result of this project Elmwood has Chinese students studying courses in both China and in Scotland. Although this is a large and significant part of the College’s international activity we also have relationships in many other countries and international students studying with us from other Asian and European Countries.
