Horticulture

Elmwood College’s horticulture department is situated at the College’s main campus with 30 acres of landscaped grounds, including glasshouses, poly tunnels, allotment and community growing plots, mature specimen trees and purpose built teaching facilities. Elmwood College is a market leader in Horticulture, working alongside major organisations such as The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), NPTC, Fife Council, The Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) and The Scottish Allotment Society.

Students receive an excellent grounding in all aspects of the horticulture industry, with the opportunity to demonstrate their skills at events like Gardening Scotland.

As part of their studies students visit nurseries, garden centres, botanic gardens and formal gardens, which provide them with an appreciation for potential career options.

It’s great to learn about all aspects of gardening. I love being outdoors and I even enjoy the theory.
