NC Sport Health & Fitness

Who is the course for?
The course is designed for people who wish to acquire the knowledge and practical skills required for employment in the Sport, Health and Fitness Industry.

Entry Requirements
Applicants require a minimum of 4 Standard Grades at 3 or 4, one of which should be English. Applicants should be able to demonstrate an active involvement in sport and leisure activities. The interview includes a practical element, where students are expected to demonstrate basic competence in several sporting activities. Applicants with a mature attitude seeking a change in career are welcome and will be assessed on an individual basis.

How will I study?
The course is delivered over 3 twelve week blocks. Subject areas include practically-based and classroom-based activities.

HNC Sports Coaching with Development

Who is the course for?
The course is designed for people who wish to gain the appropriate education and training to pursue a career in sports coaching, sports development and fitness instruction.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should have 2 Highers at C or above or a National Certificate in a relevant subject. Applicants with a mature attitude with relevant experience but no formal qualifications are welcome and are assessed on an individual basis. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an active involvement in sport/coaching or fitness activities.

How will I study?
The course is delivered over 3 twelve week blocks, and is designed to give students excellent knowledge and practical experience required for employment in the sport and leisure industry.

Job Opportunities & Progression Routes
On successful completion, students can progress to the HND Coaching at Elmwood and BSc Degree programme at Abertay University or to a job as a coach in various sectors of the industry and community.


HND Sports Coaching with Development

Who is the course for?
The course is designed for people who wish to gain the appropriate education and training to pursue a career in sports coaching, sports development and fitness instruction.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should have 2 Highers at C or above or a National Certificate in a relevant subject. Applicants with a mature attitude who have relevant experience but no formal qualifications are welcome and are assessed on an individual basis. Candidates should demonstrate an active involvement in sport/coaching or fitness activities.

What will I study?
The course is delivered over 3 twelve week block and is designed to give students excellent knowledge and practical experience required for employment in the sport and leisure industry. There are also opportunities for students to gain formal sports coaching, first aid and fitness instructor awards.

Job Opportunities & Progression Routes
On successful completion of year 2 students can look for employment opportunities in Sports Coaching, Sports Development and Sport and Fitness Centre Management. Students can access year 2/3 of the BSc Sports Coaching or Sport Health and Exercise at the University of Abertay, Dundee. Students can also access 3rd year entry to BSc Sport Science at Napier University and 3rd year entry to BSc Sports Management at Adam Smith College.

NC Golf Studies

Who is the course for?
The course is designed for people who wish to gain employment in the Golf Industry.

Entry Requirements
Applicants require a minimum of 4 Standard Grades at 3 or 4, one of which should be English. Applicants should have a keen interest in the game of golf, preferably holding an official handicap of 15 or below. Applicants with a mature attitude who are seeking a change in career are welcome and will be assessed on an individual basis.

How will I study?
The course is delivered over 3 twelve-week blocks. The course includes membership of the Elmwood College Golf Club, including a season ticket at the college's 18-hole golf course.

HNC Professional Golf

Who is the course for?
The course is designed for people who wish to gain the appropriate training and education to pursue a career in golf coaching, golf development or working in a golf facility.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should have 2 Highers at C or above or a National Certificate in a relevant subject and also hold an official category 1 handicap of 5.4 or below. Applicants with relevant experience but no formal qualifications are welcome and are assessed on an individual basis. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an active involvement in golf or coaching.

Who is the course for?
The course is designed for people who wish to gain the appropriate training and education to pursue a career in golf coaching, golf development or working in a golf facility.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should have completed the HNC Professional Golf qualification.

How will I study?
The course is delivered over 3 twelve-week blocks. There are also opportunities for students to gain formal golf coaching awards (PGA), first aid and fitness awards.
