NC Office Technology and Organisational Skills

Who is the Course For?
This course allows students to achieve an SVQ at level 2 and build underpinning knowledge through a range of NQ units. The course is very practical providing students with the skills they will need to find employment in an office environment. It also enables students to achieve a National Administration course at Intermediate 1 or 2 level.

Duration of Study
One year full-time. Two years part-time.

Entry Requirements
Applicants require a minimum of 4 Standard Grades at 3 or 4, one of which should be English. Applicants with a mature attitude seeking a change in career are welcome and will be assessed on an individual basis.

What will I Study?
The course is delivered over 3 twelve week blocks. You will be based in an office environment and build experience in a wide range of office skills including Word Processing, Reception, Power Point and Office Administration.

Course Contents

Core Units:
Carry out responsibilities at work.
Work within your business
Optional Units (3 units to be selected within the course)
Produce documents
Work effectively with other people
Deal with visitors
Use IT systems
Operate office equipment

Part 2 (NQ units):
Information Technology for Administrators (Intermediate 1 or 2)
Word Processing 1-5
Internet 1
Administration Services (Intermediate 1 or 2)
Administration: Presenting and Communicating Information (Intermediate 1 or 2)
Handling Wages and Salaries

Progression Route
On successful completion you can progress to HNC courses at Elmwood and on to degree level programmes. Jobs are available as secretaries, receptionists and administrators.
