The Course

Aim of Course
To provide the candidate with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating the Ride on Roller

Duration of Course
The course is scheduled for 4 days although this may alter depending on the candidate's experience.

Healthy and Safety Training
All candidates should have passed the Health and Safety Touch Screen Test within 2 years of their course commencing.

Course Content

Identify the basic construction and components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges.

Identify and comply with manufacturers instructions in accordance with the operator's handbook, other information sources and application legislation.

Carry out all pre-use and running checks.

Set the roller for site travel.

Travel over different types of terrain, including undulating ground.

Manoeuvre in a confined areas using forward and reverse direction.

Set the roller for compaction.

Prepare and area prior to compacting eg. Traffic/personnel management

Compact materials to given instructions

Compact up to supported and unsupported edges.

Compact against radii.

Compact around obstructions.

Place roller in an out-of-service condition.

Recognise compacted and non-compacted areas.

State conditions that may cause instability of the roller.

State safety procedures when working up to unsupported edges.

Explain safety procedures when compacting on inclines.

Explain the loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter.

Testing and Certification
All candidates will complete the Full (Theory and Practical) CPCS Technical Test and on successful completion will be issued with a CPCS Red Trained Operators Card.
