I really enjoyed my time here and the practical nature of the course was great. I have learned so much and can now return to my employer a better shepherd.
The Course
To provide the candidate with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating the 180 Degree Excavator.
Duration of Course
The course is scheduled for 10 days although this may alter depending on the candidate's experience.
Healthy and Safety Training
All candidates should have passed the Health and Safety Touch Screen Test within 2 years of their course commencing.
Course Content
Identify the basic construction and components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges.
Identify and comply with manufacturers instructions in accordance with the operator's handbook, other information sources and application legislation.
Carry out all pre-use and running checks.
Configure the excavator for site travel.
Travel the machine over varying types of terrain including rough undulating ground and substantial inclines.
Manoeuvre the excavator in confined areas
Set the machine to excavate
Excavate below ground level on a variety of excavations in different ground types.
Place soil into various sizes of vehicles/hoppers
Grade, spread and level different types of terrain.
Remove and re-attach buckets
Place the machine in and out-of-service conditions.
Explain the loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter.
Testing and Certification
All candidates will complete the Full (Theory and Practical) CPCS Technical Test and on successful completion will be issued with a CPCS Red Trained Operators Card.
