Computer and Online Basics

This course from the BCS is designed for those who have limited computer knowledge and skills but want to learn more. Students receive certification from BCS on completion of this course.

It covers the following:

Computer Basics

Parts of the computer, types of computers, getting started with the computer, the keyboard, using the mouse, and shutting down the computer.

Introduction to the Desktop

Icons, the taskbar and start button, windows, storing information, applications, different file types.

Introduction to Documents

Creating a document, naming and saving documents, changing fonts, cut and paste, copy and paste, saving and printing.

The World Wide Web

The WWW, evaluating information, online security, connecting to the internet, navigating, downloading, search engines and social networking.

Email

Email accounts, creating an email, replying to an email, forwarding an email and mail attachments.
