Learning Resource Centre
The Elmwood Campus Learning Resource Centre houses library and flexible learning facilities. The Library offers a wide range of resources and facilities to support our staff and students within a user-friendly study environment. A variety of study space for group or individual work enables students to carry out research and prepare their project work while our networked and ‘wireless’ IT facilities offer the opportunity to put a professional finish to their work.
Facilities and Services
Library resources including books, journals, DVDs, videos and on-line resources, including e-books. All resources are regularly updated to support the college curriculum.
The Library on-line catalogue is available at: http://library.elmwood.ac.uk/heritage
All students are entitled to borrow, free of charge, up to six resources at any one time. Loan periods vary from overnight to three weeks depending on the resource. Resource reservation and renewal systems are operated.
All students receive, at the start of their courses, small group induction sessions on the services and facilities and these are followed with ongoing assistance throughout the year. Library staff provide assistance with assessing subject specific electronic resources and the compiling of references and bibliographies. In addition, a range of leaflets are available covering general library information, how to access electronic information, and how to compile a bibliography. There are links to the leaflets from our on-line catalogue.
Information Service/Inter-library Loans
Library staff advise and assist with information/literature searching using a variety of sources and they will also borrow resources on behalf of staff or students from our network of external links.
Andrew Murray Memorial Collection - a comprehensive range of resources relating to sports turf put together in memory of Andrew Murray who, during his life, contributed greatly to the training of people in Fife in the sports turf industry both in the field and here at Elmwood. The collection is funded by the Institute of Groundsmanship, Scotland Region.
Nineteen networked PCs and a number of ‘wireless’ laptops are available for use by students for researching and processing projects and assignments.
